Daniel and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary on Monday! With his busy work schedule, we rarely get to have down time for just the two of us. So, we decided to have a "staycation" in the city. We dropped the pups off at Biscuits&Bath (a great doggy daycare/kennel in the city) and had a one night getaway at The Standard.
Before we left, he gave me a gift! This was so unexpected as our gift was the staycation. Now, Daniel always has the best of intentions with his gifts, but he usually needs a little guidance from me or his sisters. But y'all, he picked this out all on his own and he nailed it! For those who know me know that I love a good place setting and dinner party. So when I pulled out these fun yellow napkins from Pottery Barn, I was ecstatic. He even had them monogrammed!
I was so looking forward to our stay at The Standard and I wanted to make sure we got the full experience in our less than 24-hour stay. We made reservations for the restaurant at the very top and I even rented this outfit from Rent the Runway!
Once we checked in, we toured our room and some of the hotel. Our room was great with an awesome view of the Empire State Building!
We actually laid in bed and watched TV longer than we should have. But we don't have a TV in our bedroom at home and both forget how relaxing it is to watch TV in bed! Once we finally got the motivation to leave the cozy mattress, we strolled the streets. We passed this awesome 3-person band that was bringing jazz to the streets. People were dancing all around.
We grabbed a drink at the bar and relaxed in our room before dinner.
Long story short, the Top was booked last minute for a wedding... so they moved our reservation to the grill. I was upset, but just glad I still got to eat dinner with this handsome devil!
We had this delicious chocolate raspberry dessert!
The next morning we decided to order room service and it was delicious!
It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary! We got ready and checked out right at the very last second.
I highly recommend a "staycation" in your city if you are looking for a fun celebration but don't have the time (or money) for a long get away. It really was the perfect 19-hour escape!
P.S. Check out the Spring Trend that would be perfect for a weekend around town or a staycation celebration!
