I have to share what my sweet niece and nephew did for their birthdays this year! It's always so fun to celebrate children's birthdays with a party and all of their friends! Usually, people automatically associate birthday parties with bringing gifts for the birthday girl or boy. But this year, Bennett (6) and Ridgeway (5) decided to use their celebrations to make a difference.
Instead of bringing birthday presents to their parties, they asked their guests to bring donations. Bennett decided she wanted her party to donate canned food to her church food bank. And being the animal lover that he is, Ridgeway decided his party's donations would go towards the animal shelter. So the day of their parties, children came to celebrate the birthday girl and boy with canned goods and dog food in hand.
Bennett and Ridgeway were SO excited to deliver their donations! So excited that they have already told their mom they want to do it every year. I also have to commend my sister and brother-in-law for encouraging their children to give at a time when a child, well all of us really, are typically selfish.
I just thought this was such a great idea that I wanted to share! Here are a few pictures of them making their deliveries.
SO proud of these two!!
